Well, I Have this Sore Knee.....

Honest....I really do. It slows me down, not to mention the countless hours in the chiropractor's office getting laser treatments etc.  You know where this leading, right?  As I was looking through my 2012 blog posts I was a bit flabbergasted to discover only one finish....you heard me. I blame it on that blasted sore knee.

And that brings up another issue or should I say resolution, it is that time of year, after all. I like my sweets as much as I like my fabric......I think that says it all.

My poor knee needs less body mass to carry around, and that's it.  I might even be brave enough to keep you posted on my progress...note, I did use the word might. A little support from fellow quilters with a sweet addiction might be nice.

Besides having only one finish (there, I said it again),  the year was rather wonderful.  I noticed I had several firsts:

It was Fabulous Experience....the blocks I received were beyond all my expectations and I hope to create an amazing quilt in 2013. Thanks to all you wonderful Free Bees and thank you Lynn, for putting us together.

Had my first quilt published and they contacted me, I still can't quite believe it.

Festival of Quilts by MariQuilts
  • One of my quilts went for a visit to England...there it is, in the Oakshott Booth.

  • I entered that same quilt into a show for the first time....and we all know how that ended up....my first official rejection .  The best part of that experience was all the amazing comments from my fellow quilters and bloggers. You are all, simply the best!!!!

Naturally, that sore knee did NOT stop me from STARTING several projects....something that hopefully never changes.
So, in between making crazy amounts of design walls, here there and everywhere and starting new projects, it's been a wonderful year.

And of course...saving the best for last...a beautiful new granddaughter and an amazing new grandson.

Thank you again, for your friendship and support.

All the best and Happy New Year.

One Block....and that's it!!!

How did a whole month go by, with me only making one single block??? I know the answer to that one...to much chocolate and to many romance novels.

Free Bee Block for July

I'm almost to embarrassed to link up to Fresh Sewing Day at Lily's Quilts, but I imagine of few of you can relate to my slothful ways.

Well, off to the west coast for a few weeks....maybe I'll find my get up and quilt out there.

Fresh Sorting Day.......

Whoops, I mean  Fresh Sewing Day at Lily's Quilts....

Since most of the month of June, was spent, with my head in the scrap bin, so to speak, it feels more like Fresh Sorting Day.

Very little sewing, but lots of sorting went on.
I finished my free bee block for Lynne, now just to get it in the mail.
I did a quick QAYG scrap block...because I couldn't help myself, sorting all those scraps was such a temptation, to play a little.
I set up a humungous scrap system.....then flew off to the west coast.

After rearranging the studio, out here a few times, I threw myself back into sorting. I don't have near as many scraps to deal with here, as I do back home. I thought I would set up a smaller version of the scrap system, I have back home.

I already had the buckets....so let the sorting begin.

And, I just had to show you the nifty, oversized safety pin I found for my wall. Thanks for telling me to stop rearranging and go shopping instead, Leanne !!!

March....A Fairly Quilty Month

Lily's Quilts

Another Fresh Sewing Day at Lily's Quilts......
If you have a moment pop over and see what every one's been up to last month.

I've pretty much spent the month of March, up to my eyeballs, in Oakshott cottons and running to the mail box, for my Free Bee blocks. Plus I made my March Free Bee block and of course, more shot cottons in that block as well.

I started the month, by working, on a work in progress....not finishing, mind you.

Then The Oakshott Cottons  arrived.

I've been immersed in them ever since.

I managed to make and quilt eight blocks.

Then, still having shot cottons on the brain and scraps strewn all over the studio....made my March Free Bee Block for Krista.

And of course, ran to the mailbox nearly every other day, looking for my Free Bee blocks....which are magnificent, by the way.

Let's see what April brings.....sunshine and flowers I hope. Well, one can only dream...some of us Canadians woke up to snow this morning.

Wave Goodbye to February...Fresh Sewing Day

Here we are again....another month gone by. I'm never too sad, to leave February behind, it means Spring is on it's way.

So what have I been up to in February.....

Setting up a
dual purpose sewing space.

Working on
February's Block for the Free Bee.

It's another Fresh Sewing Day over at Lily's Quilts , so if you have a moment pop over and see what every one's been up to.

OCD Kicking In Big Time / Fresh Sewing Day

A little sewing, a little moving and a lot of OCD kicking in, this month.

It's Fresh Sewing Day , and how is that even possible.....where did January go?? I think I ask that every month.

I put it all together and then took it all apart.....more than a few times.
I treat my house like one big design wall.

Then I move things around...again and again and again.

I'm not sure if I'm artistic or have OCD.....because once I start I can't stop.
I need to start doing a little more sewing and a lot less moving.

If you have time, be sure to stop at Lily's Quilts and see what everyone was up to in January.

Another Fresh Sewing Day

Another Fresh Sewing Day at Lily's Quilts. I'm glad to say I made it through another December.... not my best time of year, and I'm looking forward to 2012.

In my quilting world I spent most of December making doll quilts for my little granddaughters....

Which, as you can see, were appreciated!!

A new quilt for a little grandson...due in the spring.

The rest of the month was spent playing around with these wonky borders.

Last but not least, here are some of my finishes for 2011...it was a pretty good year.

Now to see if I can get motivated for 2012....I'm still on chocolate overload.

Making Progress with my Wonky Borders/Fresh Sewing Day

I am making progress on this Wonky Borders Quilt.

Here's a view of the back...

as you can see it's growing.

Here's a close-up.

I'm even adding some pink...hmm, not sure about that yet.

I just remembered it is Fresh Sewing Day at  Lily's Quilts.....If you have a moment stop in and check what everyone's been working on this month.
