Back to Moving on the West Coast

I'm back on the west coast and in the thick of moving. The moving guys will be here first thing in the morning, to bring the rest of the furniture, from our old place (so why aren't I in bed already).
This means I can  finally finish setting up my studio!!!
We had some work done to our new place, while we were back home for Christmas, and am loving it.  I can't wait to show you before and after pictures.

The empty walls are just waiting....

Meanwhile, there is all the chaos that comes with moving...

My brain is chaotic enough without having a chaotic living space.

As Long as They are Still Asking....

I finally finished a hat for my great nephew, by his request, that I started before Christmas. We are having a slow start for the new year at my house..... cold and flu will do that to you.

This is  Nate, about five years ago, wearing the first hat and sweater that I ever  knit. Since he is still loving the hats....how could I resist.

I'll never forget the way his eyes lit up the first time I pulled a bunch of colorful yarn out of my knitting bag. So what's an Auntie to do when a seven year old asks for another hat....knit one of course.

Here is Nate modeling his new hat....his mom took that picture fast(I just finished it this morning). Just in time it's supposed get really cold.

Enough Already

I must have a short attention span...I'm getting tired of posting pictures of this on going project and I mean on going. You are probably tired of it as well. Actually, I only started  last month...see what I mean about the short attention span

My eye is starting to wander again..... but with all my works in progress I would be crazy to start something new. So I made myself work on this, for a little while, this afternoon. Between a cold and some extra babysitting, I'm lucky I got anything done at all today.

Another Fresh Sewing Day

Another Fresh Sewing Day at Lily's Quilts. I'm glad to say I made it through another December.... not my best time of year, and I'm looking forward to 2012.

In my quilting world I spent most of December making doll quilts for my little granddaughters....

Which, as you can see, were appreciated!!

A new quilt for a little grandson...due in the spring.

The rest of the month was spent playing around with these wonky borders.

Last but not least, here are some of my finishes for 2011...it was a pretty good year.

Now to see if I can get motivated for 2012....I'm still on chocolate overload.

One More Party to Go

We do an annual open house around here and in about two hours we will be swarmed by family and friends

Last year my husband counted 65......HELP.  Most of our family lives in the area so that probably explains the numbers. Also my husband goes crazy in the kitchen ...that might just explain a few more...we are not that popular. We do thoroughly  enjoy this casual approach to entertaining.

At the moment I am enjoying the quiet before the storm.
Have a wonderful New Year....I'm so looking forward to another wonderful year with all of you.

She's Really Into It!

I Just couldn't resist posting this picture, my son took, of his little daughter (our adorable granddaughter). I think the little doll bed was a hit for Christmas.

Finishes for 2011

I'm happy to say, despite the many starts, I also finished a few quilts this year. I was also delighted to realize I had fulfilled last year's quilting and blogging goals

So what 's up for 2012....much of the same I hope.

  • perhaps a few tutorials
  • pursuing some of the ideas running around my head
  • another year of blogging
  • more new starts

  • finishing a few of the above
  • finish setting up the West Coast Studio (below)

I'm looking forward to seeing what you are up to as well, for 2012
