Progress

Slowly but surely, slowly being the operative word.....I'm making progress. In between moving my multiple piles of stuff, I'm actually starting to check a few things off the list.

I was able to reuse my multiple panels for creating the design wall or should I say design walls (what can I say, one can never have enough design walls).....I had stacks of these panels sitting around, just waiting to be put up.

Having a black design wall, as well as a beige one is really helpful when auditioning fabrics for a project.

With the two left over black panels, I created a display board for smaller finished pieces (sort of artsy, don't you think).

A new door was put in (by my handy husband) letting lots of lovely light into the long arm area. Since there are no windows in this part of the basement this door is just the answer.

Naturally, I couldn't resist putting the rest of the panels in here. We even managed to get the long arm up on the frame and all wired up again.

Oh, and take a look at that fancy lighting!!!! These lights used to hang above the pool table at the old house. The pool table was donated to a good cause and we thought these lights would be wonderful above the long arm!!!

Trust me, there is still much to sort and organize but progress is being made!!

  2. Absolutely dying over that black design wall - it's amazing!!! Though it would make me want to use black for everything. Especially with my husband around. Any time something doesn't look right, he's like "add black!" :)

  4. Love the black design wall, and all your walls look like an art gallery. I could so use a basement. Not sure what the English have against them. House design is not one of their high points here.

  8. All I have to say is I am sooo jealous. I am trying to squeeze all my stuff into 1/3 of a room and my bedroom that I am renting from a friend.. Down from having a large extra bedroom Good thing I never invested in a long arm.. I would never have thought of a black design wall but what a great idea. Beautiful room and I know you will spend many fruitful hours there.

  14. There may be more to do, but you have made wonderful progress! Doesn't it feel good? I straightened up kitchen cupboards this weekend and found stuff that was buried and rearranged items to make it easier to find what I am looking for. I now love going into the kitchen and opening the pantry doors just to admire how it looks inside.

  16. It must be really nice to sit in those rooms and just look around. I love that your "extra" panels display little things. I would love just sitting and looking at your work. It really grabs me, everyone of them do, and pull me in. I would probably drool. HA. Keep on, Marianne!

  20. Hi, I just found your blog. I LOVE IT!! I am a new quilter, just moved into a home with space for a studio & A DESIGN WALL!! Your tutorials couldn't have been found at a better time. I also just started a blog so I am feeling like I am getting "plugged into" the program - LOL. I have 1/2" thick 2 x 4 insulation panels, duct tape & velcro - so I'm ready to roll - and I was thinking of gray flannel - but I LOVE your black idea.
    Thanks for sharing.
